Does not retain student talent

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWorking at State certainly as a student has it's pros and cons. Pros - you're at the premier foreign-policy making agency of the USG. In most cases your are truly utilized on policy issues and assignments because of staff shortages.

ConsBut because of those staff shortages, there is little to no chance that you will be hired. The USG is currently addressing these known challenges with their new Pathways initiatives which will hopefully do a better job at retaining student talent. Only time will tell whether Pathways does this though!!
