I have been working at US Department of Veterans Affairs part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Once you are hired, it is hard for them to fire you. You get to use a federal car to see clients, and some people are nice.

    Cons

You have no choice in who your supervisor is going to be, and if they don't like you, watch out! It is a highly political atmosphere, and the pressure is high. The veterans themselves are great, it's the staff you have to look out for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it easier to apply, and crack down on unethical behavior.
