Pros

Positive work environment where hard work is appreciated.

Cons

Little possibility of being let go, therefore, a disproportionate number of less enthusiastic workers.

Very missioned oriented people, mission being to help those that have served in defense of our great nation.

Employment education requirements may be over inflated, creating obstacles in hiring or advancement for otherwise qualified Veterans.

    Advice to Management

there is a lot of talent in the lower echelons, do not over look them

    Pros

As a Veteran, you get to assist your brother and sisters in arms. Ability to provide assistance to others. Stable work environment.

    Cons

Senior management is all non-vet, have the attitude that this is a good gov't job, don't make waves or changes, keep the status quot. Nepotism and favoritism is rampant. I have seen new positions created and given to non-vets over Veterans. We have no Veterans at the senior level in our office. Outside skills assessment is non-existent. A Vet with 20+ ears in training is passed over for a non-Vet that is tied to management. Pay is below that of other gavernment agencies for the same responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

This organization is to support our Veterans, support those that you support. Utilize the skills of those in your department. Previous experience needs to be looked at.
