I have been working at US Department of Veterans Affairs full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good salary and benefits.
    Time off and federal holiday.
Training and development opportunities are nice.

    Cons

Lack of accountability and no follow through on several assignment that could make this a great organization to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold staff accountable. More development and preparation for leadership and supervisor roles. Just because someone has worked for the organization for several years does not mean they are qualified to be in a leadership or supervisory position.

I have been working at US Department of Veterans Affairs full-time

    Pros

The VA is known for it's great compensation and benefits. It also affords you the opportunity to work improving the lives of vets, a highly rewarding venture.

    Cons

Of course, there is lots of bureaucracy. It takes a long time to get things done. The application process is a bit cumbersome and difficult to follow. There's lots of bouncing back and forth between the usajobs website and the actual application site that ends up getting pretty confusing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Minimize the need to go back and forth between the two websites in order to apply for the jobs. A clear checklist of requirements for each position, complete with what info the VA has already received from you would be a significant improvement. I commend you for including the name and title of the person responsible for each hiring, it's was nice to be able to contact them directly with questions.
