Tons of opportunities to advance.
On the job training.
Union is available for assistance.
Best benefits.
Rules and regs are crystal clear.

Cons

If you leave it's nearly impossible to get back in.
Some times they promote people that have no business being in management positions.

Not much to say as everything is governed by Federal policy and procedures.

    Pros

    Serving those who have served us, good benefits, time off, endless educational and advancement opportunities for those who are willing to work hard, majority of staff members genuinely care about the Veteran's wellbeing and are pleasant to work with, flexible work schedule, pay differential

    Cons

    sometimes short staffed, hiring is slow making it difficult to replace staff turnover, not a lot of accountability for actions, some staff are entitled and rude
