Pros

The VA has it's difficulties, but after working the the private sector for years, the innovation and standards of care are above anything you would see outside the VA. Employees are treated well and your growth is up to you. There are so many programs to enhance your career, the sky is the limit.

Cons

It can be difficult to get used to the "VA way". Give yourself a year or two of service to the VA and you will then be able to see why things are done so differently.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage your employees to take advantage of the opportunities for growth at the VA.

Only hire Vets . Regular citizens are not allowed to be hired as regular employees. This is an outdated policy and should be changed to allow regular citizens an equal opportunity.
