I have been working at US Department of Veterans Affairs full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent training opportunities, great benefits and pay, very rewarding working with veterans, great team work environment, values fit with mission

    Cons

Inflexible schedules, no telework options, top-heavy, little room for advancement in certain fields, very political, horrible HR, too much red tape.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take employee satisfaction and feedback more seriously and offer flex schedules, telework or more part time opportunities, promote and reward based on performance, not favoritism.
