They're trying is the only good part. The setup doesn't allow the Secretary to acutally enforce anything.

Pros

Stability, chance to help people (especially veterans), good way to give back to your country and have a career, plenty of learning opportunities

Cons

Leadership, inability for the Secretary to actually enforce anything on other divisions of the VA, very easy for your division to be locked out from necessary pieces of data and there is nothing anyone can do (including Congress apparently).

Advice to Management

Give the Secretary the ability to actually enforce policies and ideas. Find a way to reward innovation, creativity, and hard workers.

    Pros

The mission of the agency, many people on staff at the Durham VA are veterans themelves and go above and beyound

    Cons

Bad workers can not be fired, there is constant in fighting going on and blame going around. If the low producers could be fired with ease like at a private company things would improve fast.
