I have been working at US Investigations Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Making your own hours; company car; working from home

    Cons

Pretty much everything about USIS is a con. They give you horrible work loads that you can't possibly meet then they are on your case about not meeting deadlines. They tell you not to work off the clock to meet the deadlines but "you had better meet the deadlines" (wink, wink). They have you sign the timesheet "under the penalty of perjury" so that if they want to screw you after finding out you are working off the clock and not reporting it (since there is now no overtime), they can fire you. They treat you like children and you are degraded as an employee. They have no consideration for any of the employees...reviewers and investigators alike. They give you unreasonable metrics that no one can figure out to determine how you are evaluated so you just get screwed because they said that is what you did for the year. When there is a meeting with the Regional Director, all he talks about is how much money we are not making for the company and that we need to work harder to make more money. Losing 500 investigators in three months should have given the company a clue but it didn't. They have no idea why these people left. They don't understand that if your employees are happy, your company will prosper. They have no idea how to manage employees. They put team leaders in the position with no training for the position and who have never supervised anyone. They just want people who pull the company line. They fired or "laid off" some of their best team leaders who knew how to take care of their people and could get them to work well for the company. There are lawsuits going against the company now by employees who decided not to take it anymore. One has been won against them already and another one is in the works. I am sure there are more to come due to their degrading actions against their employees.

    Advice to Management

GET A CLUE...YOUR EMPLOYEES ARE NOT HAPPY!! Listen to your employees when they talk about their concerns and issues within in the company and quit blowing them off as "everyone has issues".

I have been working at US Investigations Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

conscientious co-workers who continually produce quality work. Flexible work schedule and work from home. Self-satisfaction of contributing to national security in a very minor way.

    Cons

clueless management that does not recognize the difficulty to meet increasingly heavy workload and compressed deadlines. Apparent effort to get as much work done, therefore more money before the plug is pulled by OPM.

    Advice to Management

It is higher management decisions that have lead USIS into financial difficulties and Federal investigations. Be open with the filed investigators, we are all adults and can take the bad news. Dont lie like you did about taking away Paid Time Off. Dont believe some of the latest reviews that give you 5 stars - they are probably headquarter shills.
