Pros

Experience in a technical field.

Cons

Deployment, war zones, field ops, of the four years I was in 1.75 years of it was spent on base with my family. Hurry up and wait. Platoon hazing games. Tons of guys walking around with undiagnosed PTSD.

Advice to Management

See a shrink if you've been on the battlefield. Don't take it out on the lower ranks. Officers and listen once and a while.

    Pros

The Marine Corps. is a great way to see things and go places most people won't ever do. it gives a kid that has no sence of direction a good head start on how live life. you make life long friends some are closer to you than your own family. Plus the benifits are great and if your smart and save you money by the time you get out or retire you'll have good solid nest egg to rely on if things go south.

    Cons

It's not easy it both physically and mentally demanding. first off depending on your specific job you could get killed even though were are in the tail end of a war it is still a dangerous job. It is also stressful to know that if you mess up you or some one next to might die. You do get judged all the time on your uniform, apperance, and, physical condition. its not really a job so much as a way of life

  2. Great start in life for someone just graduating from high school.

Learn traits and gain experience in all kinds of different career areas. An anormous amount of resources for the servicemember and their family.

    Cons

A lot of time spent away from family. Must be able to follow orders and regulations without question.
