I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The best part is financial security and stability. You won't have to worry about your company's contract period of performance running out or being shaken by the economy. During your contract term, your job will be there come what may. Also, great opportunity to obtain a retirement pension after 20 years of service. Rated at 50% of basic pay for 20 years of service and 2.5% for each additional year over 20.

    Cons

If you are attached to a Fleet Marine Force Unit, you are very likely to deploy in support of overseas operations. Actually, you are highly encouraged and expected to do at least one FMF tour about once every 5-6 years for career progression, which is very important if you want to make a career out of the Marine Corps. Currently, Marine Corps is downsizing the force due to draw-down but with the mass exodus, could be potential for promotions where there are vacuums.

I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good dependable pay and benefits, see things and go places many others never get to see.

    Cons

Have to leave your family behind for long periods of time, usually a higher number of things you're going to hate doing vs. the things that are going to be fun and exciting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

N/A never made it up the ranks high enough to be in the position to advise the management.
