Great place to work if you got the right attitude. Don't apply if you want to be rich.

I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Comradery, steady pay for a comfortable living, health and dental care, tuition assistance, physical fitness programs and most of all being able to serve your country as one of the few and the proud!

Cons

Leadership can be poor, depending on your specific job it may take a long time to get promoted, if in a relationship it may be difficult on your significant other during training and deployment, waiting for word to be passed, micro management. Oh, there are also alot of budget cuts and downsizing!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

1. NCO's are the backbone. Give them more responsibility and less micro management. 2. Sometimes "suck it up" is not the best advice to something done.
3.Focus on Marines with family, especially the junior Marines, and make sure they are taken care of.
4. Give Marines more PME and resources for issues such as sexual health, alcohol abuse, and financial planning.

I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The leadership and technical skills are great for getting you ready for a job in the civilian world. The work environment is more like a brotherhood than coworkers.

    Cons

The discipline, deployment schedule, and commitment are not for everybody. When you join the Marine Corps, you are signing over your life to Uncle Sam.
