Pros

The finest fighting organization on Earth. A brotherhood unmatched in any organization. The Marine Corps is an organization that will provide the training and experience that is highly desired by the corporate world.

Cons

There are no Cons. It is an all volunteer force. If you do not like it, then get out. If you join the Marine Corps, you must go in knowing you will train and travel. You are volunteering to fight for your country in any combat related deployment. Again, not a Con, but a reality.

Advice to Management

None. Just keep fighting to keep us strong and our budget as intact as you can through this tough economy.

    Pros

Easy to advance given the pool of peer candidates.

    Cons

Staff leadership is not cycled in the Reserve, creating a tenured attitude.

    Advice to Management

Reinforce leadership by example from Staff NCOs.

    Pros

working on a Salary instead of hourly or commission. Getting 2.5 days off per month is Excellent. There is a huge Room for growth within the military due to individuals retiring daily or maxing out there time in grade. The Job Security is excellent because they have to go through an extensive process to kick you out as opposed to simply firing you and in that process you have many opportunities to correct the issue and have it resolved. Most of the jobs involve Travel which can be a great opportunity.

    Cons

There is a significant Lack of freedom due to the uniformity and inability to speak your mind without retribution. 24/7/365 mentality, you are a Marine at all times and must act accordingly. Getting called in after working scheduled hours. Deployments are difficult especially if you have any family. Even if you are content with being away from your parents that long there is always some disappointment and resentment if they didn't contact you or worry enough depending on your expectations. There are extreme difficulties in being a single parent in the Military because they have no understanding of your different needs. It is difficult to hold someone to the same standards when they have different situations

    Advice to Management

If you want people to want to work 24/7 you have to want it too. Work with employee's to better help them balance between work and home.
