I worked at US National Guard part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Retirement benefits, especially Tricare. AMAZING life-long friends compratriots. Belonging to a group of people that garners the respect of just about everyone in America and the world. And you will learn values, morals, and commitment unlike anywhere else.

    Cons

You could die. Since it is political, your leaders can be dirt bags because they don't get weeded out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your soldiers, they have great ideas.

I worked at US National Guard

    Pros

Being a soldier and the friends you meet

    Cons

If you are going to play ARMY go to the Active Duty and get your retirement. The NG retirement really sucks! Hurry up and wait...for what? There really is nothing good to say about the Fraud, Waste and Abuse the entire NG, not just the Army NG does!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Somewhere, someone forgot the purpose of the National Guard. It is not a replacement for the Active Duty...This is the job of the ARMY Ready Reserves. The senior leaders of the military, especially the NG are lying to the public about their role and the BILLIONS of dollars spent each year. Show me a profit to the NG, any branch... you never will! We need to expand the elite forces, shrink the Active Component, Shrink the NG to almost nothing and better utilize the Ready Reserves.
