I have been working at US Navy full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Work with great people. Good professional training opportunities, Excellent leadership experiences. Skills easily transferred to private sector. Good networking opportunities as well. Great benefits.

Cons

Work-life balance almost non-existent at times. Frequent management & leadership changes creates significant churn and disruption to work processes. Time is often not your own.

    I have been working at US Navy

    Pros

    Steady pay, good benefits, and a chance to travel. If you are willing to put in the effort chance to get a degree and only have to pay for books.

    Cons

    A lot of time spent away from family during deployment. Long hours and dealing with lazy people that you cannot fire.

    Pros

    The best reason to serve in the NAVY is the comradery is like no other in the world. You will gain real life experience and best of all learn about Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

    Cons

    Sometimes its tough to respect people who do not really deserve respect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your sailors, just because you may get paid more does not mean that you have any idea what you are doing.
