Pros

College education, medical benefits, leadership training, travel to other countries.

The long deployments affect family life. Pay raises need to match the rising cost of living.

    I worked at US Navy

    Pros

I got to go to different places and experience different things. I learned how to work all types of people. Decent pay, housing is provided, and tax free shopping. It's easy to maintain a good work/life balance. Benefits include free medical/dental. 30 days of vacation each year.

    Cons

In the medical side of the Navy it's hard to get promoted. Study hard and put in your time and you can make rank. The pay is decent. As an HM there isn't much you can do in the civilian world without going back to school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your junior sailors. Support them, encourage them, and teach them.

I have been working at US Navy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Locations, benefits, leave and time off when needed, advancement. The only thing that stops you from advancing is you. With free college, pay, and basic needs all taken care of you only have to do your job to be successful.

    Cons

Most of the cons are the same as the pros; locations, time from family, the fast acting lifestyle. You also will run in to the same issues you have in the civilian world with people you have to work with that will not do there job, people that just don't understand that they have or what they need to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work and the looking out for your Sailors. Thanks.
