Definitely great benefits that come from working for the US Federal Government. If you can get your work done, then it's actually a pretty flexible environment and you can definitely have a very balanced life (not a problem to have family).

Cons

You better be ready to settle into a life of monotony and isolation in your office. You'll be staring at your computer monitor for hours on end and there's a lot of pressure and stress to meet production expectations.

Do your best to help employees meet their goals - know that this job isn't their life and offer the support they need to continue working if it's in their best interest.
