I worked at US Postal Service full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, great people to work with.

    Cons

Top management failing to make changes and lead. Failure to plan for economic up and downturns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop dwelling on declining first class mail. Dedicate resources on parcel delivery and same day delivery which is expanding rapidly. Fed-ex and UPS are not loosing billions. They use a good business model and provide the services that customers want and are willing to pay for.

I worked at US Postal Service full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great co workers, decent pay, decent benefits. it is a multi-cultural work place. It allows people from all over the country, from all backgrounds a chance, regardless of education level. Does not judge anyone based on race, religion, or sexual identity.

    Cons

Threat of privatization. Threat of corporate takeover. Sometimes the problem really does start at the top. Too many management ideas all going in different directions. Too much emphasis on getting the numbers right.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to doing what you do best:Delivering the mail. Hire more people, instead of forcing people with high seniority to retire.
