Pros

The organization as a whole has really great and personable people to work with. In certain departments. The facility is really nice and has every amenity possible.

Cons

People in certain departments are very incompetent and yet get promoted or favores while the people doing the jobs are beaten down. Management is mostly being filled with baffoons who make the worst decisions and cripple the company and ruin the culture of a once great place to work.

Advice to Management

To upper managment, please clean house of current managers. They may have you fooled now, but when it comes to crunch time, these are not the people you want bailing out the boat. They're more likely to jump ship then help n

    Pros

Casual attire permitted. Coworkers are great.

    Cons

Promotion from within seldom happens. To advance you need to play "nice" with management otherwise you will be overlooked. Job Descriptions for openings tend to be changed/written in a manner that will promote a "favored" employee within the company to get the promotion/advancement. Pay not equivalent to your work performance or work load. Unless you are management, you are paid hourly which means that your sick time and vacation time are paid in a pro rated increment. If you are an hourly employee and toward the end of the year you run out of your vacation/sick days, find another job because you can not take a day off "unpaid".A lot is expected whereby nothing is given in return. Not a company you want to work for until retirement.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees a fair wage. Morale can be improved if advancements would occur more frequently and fairly. Don't micro manage or speak in a condescending manner, it is insulting...and the employees are not children. Be a little flexible with time off. If an employee wants to take an "unpaid" day off they should be granted it. , Afterall, Gannett didn't have any problem giving 2 weeks of "unpaid furlough days off "to employees.
