I have been working at USG

Pros

The people you work with are good people. You have to be careful of negative comment you make to some because the y can turn on you, but overall there are pleasant people.

Cons

The programs regarding a person's attendance, the having to turn on your computer to log in and if you are a minute late it is counted against you. You will be written up for it, besides having to put up with your teamleader's attitude all day for coming in late. It does not matter if it something personnal. A person changes when they become a teamleader and all the sudden the person you knew just goes postal on you for the same things he did before he was a teamleader. They have a Quality Assurance Program that no matter how good you do and you helped the customer it was not good enough. It is good for making sure the employee has low self esteem.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

To listen to the employees. Most would do 100% without the babysitting tools set in place to make one feel as if they are not grown up enough to do the job. Remember people have lives outside of work and should not be made to feel horrible for being late or missing work. Unless it was out of hand then that is different, but for those few people all must paid the price. When a person apply for a position within it should not have to go through the teamleader first. A person should be able to interview base on their work ethics.

    I have been working at USG full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    USG is a good company with strong emphasis on building relationships among customers and employees. While the job often requires long or unusual hours, there is a strong belief in life balance. It is a great company for training and when the economy there will be ample opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

    The current economy makes advancement and employment, especially for those not in an engineering field can be risky. Must be willing to relocate to receive advancement within the manufacturing management positions.

    Stay the course but never forget the values of your people are your best assets.
