I have been working at UT Southwestern Medical Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

State job, so very stable. Very little (if any) work stress. Great work live balance and schedule flexibility. Everyone is nice, and teamwork is encouraged by management.

    Cons

The usual: executive management out of touch, middle management (in my department) not very experienced or mature in their roles. UTSW should invest in their managers by requiring some minimal management training. One team manager was not knowledgeable at all on the basics: how to address inappropriate behavior of his employees, what the HR requirements/processes were, how to deliver a performance review, how to conduct effective meetings, or how to maintain appropriate confidentiality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your managers, so they are equipped to be successful in their roles.
