I have been working at UT Southwestern Medical Center full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Academic medical center surrounds you with smart people doing important work. Employee benefits and retirement programs are outstanding and salaries are decent. There is growth opportunity for hardworking people in many areas.

Cons

The institution is changing and change always brings stress. Some people might find some policies inflexible or stifling (i.e., no smoking anywhere; flextime is available but not for everyone).
