I have been working at UTC Aerospace Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-Acceptable pay (for new inexperienced engineers only)
-Can learn a lot about Aerospace (On your own only, must be vigorous)
    -Professional Setting/Relaxed Atmosphere
    -Decent Benefits
    -Friendly people
-Perfect place for someone who does NOT want a challenge

    Cons

-Real scientific analysis and drafting starting to be outsourced to the 3rd world. Most older experienced engineers now reduced to checking outsourced work.
-ALL NEW GRAD ENGINEERS hired as paper-pushers only.
-NO TRAINING! Older engineers are very friendly and answer questions, but they DO NOT WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TRAINING YOU or SHARING THEIR WORK (fearing for their own jobs?) Speaking to management does nothing.

-May begin to feel "stuck" in your position since you don't development impressive skills to put on your resume for career development....how do you explain in an interview that after several years of full-time employment as an Aerospace Engineer that you have NO experience in design (or related software), analysis (or related software), manufacturing, "Lean", or project leadership?

....great place to start while you concurrently look for a REAL engineering position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is documented that "Staff" level (most experienced) engineers have a duty to mentor and train. Why hire an engineer to fetch this folder, copy that report (because most older engineers struggle with Word and Excel...REALLY?? COME ON!!), or stir your coffee, and then still complain about being understaffed.

    Pros

The benefits package that is offered to salary employees.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Correct the communication pipeline from top to bottom.
