I have been working at UTI full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Good pay but really not up to par on what other tech schools pay their employees. Awesome staff, but management rarely knows a thing about the facts

Cons

Management rarely knows ANYTHING about federal polices, use their employees so that they can look good for THEIR bosses. Most of the big bosses are never the same each month. Stupid policies on tiny things (What way your computer monitor needs to be angeled at)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn your stuff. If you are IN CHARGE of the department, please know at least the basics and don't rely on asking your employees how to do your own dang job.

I have been working at UTI full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly people, great 'intentions' for company sustainability, clean safe workspace, great mission/vision focus on 'improving lives' (mostly student focused, a.k.a. core business driver)

    Cons

Leadership spread thin due to recent staff losses, real expectations not fully disclosed during on-boarding process, too many 'hidden messages' behind 'smiles and grip n grins'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Every company needs to cust costs, but there is still a 'cost of doing business' that has to occur. Be more candid when discussing expectations and forward movement.

I have been working at UTI full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Work duties are fairly simple, depending on class. Passing the torch to those students that are focused and committed is very rewarding. Excellent peers in the instructor staff.

    Cons

Underpaid however, there is potential for overtime pay. Management at campus and coperate level treat you like a number. Alternating schedule makes working and enjoying your family difficult. Possibility for a different schedule every 3 weeks. Sometimes you don't know what shift you are working until 3 days before it changes. Too many students that shouldn't be there. Hard to get rid of them because coperate see these future ditch diggers as dollar signs. Congress tried. Middle managment hover over you and offer useless advise they read in a book, or saw on some online training. Some of them have never run a classroom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat people like people. Management needs to be proactive, not reactive. Everything is this company is done 11th hour.
