I worked at UTI full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Motorcycle Mechanics Institute was a good place to work, that don't have an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, unlike its parent company UTI. People at MMI are treated well and promotions ate based on merit and hard work. Keep up the good work MMI.

Cons

Owned by Universal Technical Institute, a totally different mentality, that promoted yes people. The view of MMI is that MMI is unimportant. Many famous people got their education at MMI including a UTI campus president at the Arizona campus.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

MMI leadership buy the majority of shares back from Universal Technical Institute, you've been carrying UTI for too long! Disassociate yourselves from a negative image and company! MMI is profitable and always has been.

    Pros

Helping the good students to start a successful career, Some great people worked there, unfortunately very few of the good ones were in management

    Cons

hypocritical leadership, all the way to the CEO, mediocre pay, company run on metrics - without taking any other factors into consideration.

I worked at UTI full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is highly competetive, probably well above private rates. Really had a great time from 2000 until 2007 when things went really bad really quick

    Cons

Keep the students there as long as possible to make as much as possible by adding extra courses. Graduate pay rates way lower than projections
Less than 5% of grads stay in industry, many never get paid work in chosen field

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Playing favorites is never good long term.
Corrupt and dishonest middle management, make sure students can't fail by giving answers day before quizzes. Cheating should not be encouraged or rewarded
