Pros

academic freedom, even after recent cuts still a good benefit package

Cons

Low pay - long hours;

No job security from semester to semester;

Only getting to teach the classes no one else (the tenure and tenure track faculty) wants to do.

State government can (and does) modify existing employment contracts, effectively lowering salary and benefit packages without the "need" for the employee to renegotiate, or even resign contracts.

  1. The University in general is a nice place to work, but the MLG dept is very dysfunctional

    Pros

    Good health care and lots of vacation

    Cons

    -Dealing with Faculty who feel entitled and expect you to bow down to them. They complain about pay when they are making almost a 100k and get 4 months off a year.
    - You never get raises unless you are faculty

    Advice to Management

    Pay your back end staff what their worth otherwise your entitled faculty wouldn't be able to do their job.
