Pros

You will receive a 25% discount on products and 50% discount on salon services. A few times a year, the discount can be as high as 40% off of products and 60% off of salon services.

Cons

Employees in managerial type roles who have no knowledge of cosmetics and lack customer service/people skills. Hours are cut so drastically there are not enough employees to assist customers. This is frustrating for both the customers and employees. Lack of training for employees. Lack of incentives for employees other than employee discount. The pay is very low.

Salon services are not paid for at the salon. So the customer has to come and wait in line behind all the retail customers. If the customer wants to add a tip to their charge, a manager has to approve it first. This causes the customer to be inconvenienced as they have to wait around for a manager to come approve their tip.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

provide employee benefits to all full time employees. Provide better training to managers in the areas they lack knowledge. Don't hire people just because they have a retail background. They are not very useful if they know nothing about cosmetics and lack customer service/people skills. Make more of an effort for your employees to feel like they are valued.

Don't cut hours so drastically that you lose customer service.

    Pros

A lot of freebies from training. Good people to work with. Fast paced environment. Prefer to pormote from within. Generous discount in the retail side of the store and in the salon. Corporate office is always willing to listen, even if they cannot help in the moment.

    Cons

Company just went public and will anything to save a dollar....including cutting hours back so there is never any chance to have help on the floor to help the customers. Not enough training from vendors, so there are a lot of lines store know nothing about. Opening too many new stores. Should focus on the ones they have first.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize it is hard to make sales when there is no one on the salesfloor. Also work on getting more training to stores. They could sell more if they had training.

This place gives the term 'bad company' a whole new meaning.

    Pros

The 25% discount, and the gratis the company ocassionally gives out after you work your behind off.

    Cons

Everything. No insurance offered for part-timers, horrible lack of hours, bad management, exspensive to keep up with dress code along with hair styles and trends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take lessons from other companies, the "snob-like" attitude is distasteful. Expect the same from your fellow employees as you would yourself, and try to shy away from the hypocriticalism. If you take 3 or 4 smoke breaks during a shift, others should be allowed the same also.
