I have been working at UniGroup

    Pros

Okay place if you just want a job and not a career. The benefits are pretty good, exercise room, employee programs.

    Cons

Very little opportunity for advancement. A lot of weak middle managment that have been at the company forever. The review process is time consuming and offers no feedback on how you are doing. It is a man's world.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Something needs to done about the review process...there is no benefit to the employee.

I have been working at UniGroup

    Pros

Mayflower is the most recognized name in the moving industry which helps in making sales. The company uses the latest technology and is on the leading edge in this regard. Mayflower is very concerned with and stresses compliance to government regulations ... they are also very much on the leading edge in this area. Mayflower is part of the Unigroup umbrella and is therefor part of the largest moving organization in the United States.

    Cons

The moving industry is highly regulated which hinders the ability for sales reps to make money. Much of the compliance is managed on the local basis by the approximately 450 agents, so levels of compliance vary greatly. In most cases several agents may be involved with an order and if one agent's rep screws things up, it can have a negative affect on the other agents involved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is hard to give advice on how to solve some of the difficulties within the company because most of the issues are systemic to the industry as a whole. Competition is fierce and having a differentiation from the other movers in the industry is important to success. Making the US DOT change the regulations that are ineffective and unnecessary would help ... but I don't know if it is possible considering the politicians in Washington!
