Pros

It's a good learning place, 2nd largest consumer products company, with many global brands and teams.

Cons

Bureaucratic, and top heavy. Similar to other large corporations, constant re-organizations and job changes.

Advice to Management

More accountability, and greater transparency with re-organizational processes.

    Pros

Unilever is an ethical company that strives to treat its employees well, at least in comparison to companies of similar size. It also understands the benefits of giving back to the surrounding communities and involves it's employees in its community service projects. Unilever respects the Work/Life balance of employees and offers flexible work arrangements, enabling employees to give their best without sacrificing their personal lives.

    Cons

Unilever needs to better educate its management in skills related to employee development, and leadership abilities. It's difficult to gain a promotion without moving to another position under a new manager. There should be more emphasis on rewarding individuals who work above expectations and an established method for employees to recognize other employees for outstanding work.

    Advice to Management

People are the most important asset of a company and Unilever has incredibly talented people. Make sure to see the "big picture" and not just short term cost cutting to achieve a bonus for a year. This will not help the company in the long term. Make sure to use the talents of employees to the fullest and take the time to know what those talents are.

  2. Great place to get a 2-4 yr foundation then move on to a better environment/ advancement -- just like any big CPG firm.

    Pros

Top CPG company; a lot of brands; great training; easy to go into other marketing afterward

    Cons

Big, get lost in the shuffle. Some roles much more work than others.

    Advice to Management

Promote and support the star talent more. Work out better balance of responsibilities. Value an MBA more. Promote where due in terms of work product not just friends with everyone.
