Former Employee - Marketing and Sales Intern in Omaha, NE
Former Employee - Marketing and Sales Intern in Omaha, NE

I worked at Union Pacific full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Opportunity to work on real projects with real professionals. Great culture. Not expected to work over-time, although over-achievers do.

Cons

Managers expect to give you a task or project and you are not supposed to ask questions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more direction for intern projects. Don't give negative reactions when interns ask questions. They are there to learn.

I have been working at Union Pacific full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a place where you can go as far as you want to go. The only limiting factor is you. State of the art building and equipment.

    Cons

Some postions require alot of travel. If you're ok with that this is the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a little more time getting to know your core group.

No respect for talent - just taking care of the search engine person

I have been working at Union Pacific full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Railroad benefits if you can stand the politics and emotional torture

    Cons

The company I will be leaving soon is NOT the company I started working for 12 years ago. IT management is taking care of each others and HR is happily looking away. Useless HR role in IT department policies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You still have some good people left, please open your eyes and respect the talent and stop taking care of your own.
