    Pros

Opportunity to work on real projects with real professionals. Great culture. Not expected to work over-time, although over-achievers do.

    Cons

Managers expect to give you a task or project and you are not supposed to ask questions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more direction for intern projects. Don't give negative reactions when interns ask questions. They are there to learn.

I have been working at Union Pacific full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you do at least okay, you will always have a job unless the economy goes in the tank.
People are helpful and generally nice.
You get raises each year and they have a pretty good career path from entry level to management for those willing to try and stay there for at least 8 years.
They train you and offer college tuition assistance.

    Cons

It's a corporation so things don't always happen as fast as you think they should.
    Bureaucracy like everywhere else.
People play favorites (like everywhere else).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes it's more important to hire people who are excited about the company than it is to hire people who are slightly smarter and not excited about the company.
