Union Pacific – “No money issues here....profits are sky rocketing!”

Pros

Personally, the pension. When you are in the railroad, you are locked into a very solid and stable employment field. Alot of positions allow you to have freedom and because of this freedom you are able to repair/do your job without much trouble from outside. The downside is the company does not have much in standardization and things are different all over the railroad. Compensation is good and most shops are Union. Management is pretty easy to get along with most times and getting your tools and equipment is alot of the time done on the fly with a credit card.

Cons

Change is something that the rail is not used to, so change is something that is not looked upon favorably, still the mentality, if it is not broke, do not fix it.

Advice to Senior Management

Allow assitant managers to fill positions where managers are not being filled to allow for advancement options for the field.
