I worked at Unisys full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Engineering organization full of talented people producing leading edge solutions. Great opportunities for enhancing skill-set. Recognition for top innovators. Flex-time and telecommuting supported.

Cons

Salaries below market reference points due to multiple years of wage freezes and token increases. Great products that nobody knows about due to inept marketing strategies. Job security non-existent. Layoffs an annual event.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unisys is known in IT circles as the incredible shrinking company. Laying off senior employees and hiring at junior levels to replace them further damages company reputation.

I worked at Unisys full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It is a good place to start your career here if you do not have ideas about your future plans. You can learn lots of things, also using your languages is important. Here you can do it. It is located in the heart of Budapest, which is also OK.

    Cons

Too much pressure on the agents, supervisors do not communicate with the employees (do not even greet them sometimes) unless there is a deep friendship. Some accounts have really useless, terrible procedures. It is very phone based, there are strict break regulations (30 min lunch break, 60 min short break). The largest problem is that in some positions they have very incompetent people (Subject Matter Experts for example). It is hard to get to a higher position - sometimes the internal job postings are mailed to everyone but the position itself has already been filled...so they have chosen the one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your conceptions, "cut the costs and cut the costs" is not the best way to keep people in the job. People tend to leave Unisys after 1-2 years and it has a reason. Firing people from one day to another is actually inadmissible. Pay better those who assume more work than the average. Try to keep employees there in the proper way.
