I have been working at Unisys

Pros

Many employees have been able to become virtual employees. they strike a decent balance between work and life

Cons

Direction less and CYA are a way of life. More and more cut backs to squeeze as much as they can out of each employee.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Draw on employee experience and listen to people in the field for feed back. to often management is disconnected from what is actually happening

I have been working at Unisys

    Pros

A very rich tradition within the company since they had teh first commercial computer and first adding maching.

    Cons

Regularly having reductions in force. The company gets no respect from the media.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We have too many levels of management for a company this size and they are paid too well and the regular workforce gets very small or no raises.

I have been working at Unisys

    Pros

Excellent client relationships; knowledgeable and competent technical support staff; great camraderie amongst technical people and with line management (first and second level managers); global presence therefore global opportunities; flexible work schedules; home office availability.

    Cons

    Substandard salary increases; continual erosion of company's contribution to employee benefits; poor outlook for company financial picture; senior management indifference to employees' value and past contributions; continued management focus on expense control rather than revenue growth; senior management lack of direction;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They are too slow to recognize emerging technologies and business trends; They continue to support unprofitable strategies years after the strategies have been disregarded by the marketplace as irrelevant; They place no value on employee loyalty to the company; There are way too many levels of expensive and unproductive middle management
