I have been working at United Airlines full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Good benefits package, including medical, dental, vision and FSA.

Cons

Zero advancement in 9 years. Management intent on adopting easiest processes/products, not best. Feels like hostile takeover by Continental management, all firmly convinced that they know how to run an airline, despite their inexperience with international and wide-body aircraft, and the compelling evidence to the contrary, evidenced by big mistakes in systems and software integration.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lots of talk about "culture" but culture begins at the top. And the poor examples set at the top have filtered down through management to create a culture that doesn't recognize hard work or employee value. Leadership establishes a common vision, outlines the means by which to achieve it, and motivates the organization toward that achievement. Management tries to find efficiencies and treats people as spreadsheet elements. United has only management.
