I have been working at United Airlines full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Good culture, leadership seems headed in right direction and communicates it well, 9-5 working hours, good benefits

Cons

Large company so can seem bureaucratic at times, job advancement is there but slower than smaller companies

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication of company strategy and news is great - please keep doing this.

Work is okay, but poorly managed, and 10-yr pay progression makes a career unlikely for most.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Full benefits even for part-time. Flight benefits if you have the stomach for it. Union job protection. Work load is comfortable. Great group of fellow ramp agents. Work outdoors.

    Cons

10-yr pay progression from $9/hr-$21/hr. Poor management at all levels. Many worker concessions over the past 20 yrs. No COLA raises beyond top pay scale. Weak union due to US legislative constraints. Flight benefits often difficult to take advantage of. Work outdoors in all weather.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce pay progression to 3 years and watch turnover plummet. Get your CBAs settled in a timely fashion to empower your entire work force. Hire people-managers not police and bean counters.

I worked at United Airlines full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Training and competitive benefits I lived in several great bases, and on the West Coast, as well as Miami, D.C., and London, England. Pros are that you get to travel the world, on their dime.

    Cons

Hard to live on small "B" scale salary the first 5 years. Heavy equipment to haul and to use on aircraft- Carts are 200 lbs- Cons are also jet lag

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees need to have better pay on "B" and "A" scale..
