Former Employee - Customer Service Representative in Washington, DC

I worked at United Airlines full-time

Pros

An opportunity to make some lifelong friends.

Cons

The merger has destroyed the culture and atmosphere. The new management team is competely out of touch with active and retired employees. There is no compassion and respect for the human factor. The customers are leaving and looking elsewhere. A shame for the legacy UAL. Greed is the word to describe the New United Airlines!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees and retirees with respect. Work as a team throughout the company.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people I work with. Would have said flight benefits, but they are hard to use anymore.

    Cons

Pay and benefits are far less than those you manage. Fear of senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide "dignity and respect" to your management staff. Pay according to contributions and benefits equal to union represented co-workers. Actually should be above what the union represented co-workers are provided as we are "at will" employees.

Current Employee - Senior Manager in Chicago, IL

I have been working at United Airlines full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Culturally, United is focused on treating each other with dignity and respect, as well as empowering employees to make solid decisions. In turn, this provides a better customer experience for travelers. It takes time to put together two legacy carriers and the efforts made so far are moving us in the right direction.

    Cons

The merger has a few more years to go before we will reap the rewards, profitably. Also, subsidiary United employees are bitter and jaded about management before the merger. They need to give new management a chance. CHANGE CAN BE A GOOD THING!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep focusing on the employees and the product -- it will truly set us apart from Delta and American.
