Sub-par experience thus far - overworked, unchallenged.

Pros

Great benefits, good people -- personally, not work wise.

Cons

Senority based. Everyone looks down upon you because you're new. They don't give you a chance. Overworked. Greedy. Age discriminated.

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more. If they do not like their job, or they are not challenged enough, find them a different one. Don't make them wait a year. Trust your employees to make decisions as they go and not belittle them later for making the decision. Don't sit them down for a conference everytime something goes wrong or something is not preferred.

  1. It was a great company before the Continental Merger. They stripped the retirees of earned benefits.

    Pros

It was a great company before the merger.

    Cons

Once we merged with Continental, their first move was to strip the retirees of their 4 major (no cost to the company) earned benefits, without even notifying them they were doing it. They still have not notified the retirees officially. Also, they are now outsourcing work to American Eagle.

    Advice to Management

Keep your word to the 39,000 plus retirees and give them back their earned no cost to the company retirement benefits that they worked 20,30,40 and more years for. Stop outsourcing ground jobs to cheap labor. Safety use to be the number one priority, and yet, now you are cutting corners. You get what you pay for in most cases... so stop the outsourcing!

  2. Look elsewhere for employment

    Pros

An opportunity to make some lifelong friends.

    Cons

The merger has destroyed the culture and atmosphere. The new management team is competely out of touch with active and retired employees. There is no compassion and respect for the human factor. The customers are leaving and looking elsewhere. A shame for the legacy UAL. Greed is the word to describe the New United Airlines!

    Advice to Management

Treat employees and retirees with respect. Work as a team throughout the company.
