I have been working at United American Insurance full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Nice working environment. No office drama - Everyone just keeps their headphones on and gets down to business. supervisors are very friendly. Torchmark (United American) has great company benefits......even a pension which is non heard any more...not that it will still be available by the time I retire.

Cons

The Data Entry Operators are paid by the piece so there is absolutely no socializing. Many employees are introverted and unable to have a normal conversation. It is a very gray type environment, kind of like factory work with everyone just burried into their computers and not having time to get to know their co-workers. You can't switch jobs for 4 months so turn over is rather high. Quota is based on a very very high rate of speed. Only the fast people make their quotas. Over the last year, I have become very sad working here. It is a punch in, punch out job and you must watch every minute of work so that you can make quota....I mean every minute. If you take a bathroom break, you will have to make up those minutes in order to meet quota.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is more to HR rather than direct management....When placing someone in data entry or any job that is paid by the piece, be aware that happy, bubbly personality types will be very dissatisfied in this position as it skweltches their personality.

I have been working at United American Insurance

    Pros

Job advancement opportunities, great pay, easy work, flexible schedule

    Cons

office politics, "who you know society" vs. how well the job is done or if the expectations are even being met

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your "go-getters"! The ones that put their heart and soul into the business. The people you should value should be the ones that pour their everything into the needs of the business and needs opr the department not the ones that sit around and gossip, punch the clock at 4:30 pm, and never think a second about the company other than a social meet and greet.
