Former Employee - Staff Accountant in Grapevine, TX

I worked at United Apartment Group full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

The people at the regional office were friendly and mostly nice

Cons

The owners have a blame system with no accountability therefore there is a lot of back stabbing and no team work. I worked there for over 5 years and was constantly on guard spending most of my time documenting all communication so that nothing could be used against me. This is how most employees spent there time. My boss was always worried about being fired she worked around the clock ignoring any personal life this caused her to think that all of us should abandon our families for the good of the company

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your employees they do the work for you. also make your company mission statement something more then a posting on your website. This starts with Tim Settles & Carrie Girgus

I worked at United Apartment Group full-time

    Pros

If you are committed, driven and go above and beyond you are certainly recognized and rewarded with a promotion eventually, though the movement in the company is slow. There are many long term employees because it does have a family feel. The Managing Partners are very loyal and do their best to get to know you and what motivates you. Most of the Regional Managers seemed to be very hands on and a part of the team, not just a person at a desk down at corporate. There was ample training as well as third party training through Grace Hill available to all employees. The annual manager's retreat was a ton of fun. There is some exiting technology being implemented.

    Cons

Some of the clients are very inappropriate. Pay is low by industry standards and you're probably not getting the raise you think you are worth no matter the determination you have. Many will openly discuss their salary at the corporate level, placing further irritation on the feeling of being underpaid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Stop emailing on weekends. Just stop. Employees respond out of courtesy but it eats up their relaxation time. 2. Let vacation time be truly that- no expectation to work during those periods. 3. Really do some research on industry standard pay and work load.

I have been working at United Apartment Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good benefit package after three minths of employment

    Cons

disorganized, changes methods frequently, supplies for cleaning or repairs slow to come, some expectations unreasonable, money not spent well by manager

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For the corp...watch your apartment managers closer and don't believe every thing they tell you. Apartment managers......people work hard and deserve commendations...train and motivate not fire and rehire over and over
