A good company to work for but senior management at branch level was very out of touch and did not care about employees

I worked at United Community Banks

Pros

UCB has a good benefits package. The paid time off was very reasonable. The perks such as employee loan rates were excellent.

Cons

While the benefits package was good, the health insurance was fairly expensive compared to other places I had worked. There was very little recourse at a higher level in dealing with problems with local management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at local management. There are many in those positions that do not know how to effectively deal with personnel issues and many good people have left the bank because of that.

    (1.) Benefits are conducive to industry standard.
    (2.) Great people to work with.
    (3.) Senior management supports regional decisions.

    Cons

    (1.) Negative information regarding the company is not disseminated properly. Months may go by before some are privy to negative ratings or market sentiment.
    (2.) Vacation time is based on a series of ranges with an employee receiving 10 days, if employed for 1-5 years.
    (3.) Systems are completely deficient and prehistoric.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    (1.) Sell to a larger institution and accept retirement offers.

    I worked at United Community Banks full-time

    Pros

    Customer service is job one. The staff is wonderful and very welcoming and giving. It was a wonderful place to work until the layoffs began.

    Cons

    Upper management no longer seems to focus on much other than the bottom line. Their focus has shifted to a focus on the stock price. Raises are scarce. Staff being laid off. Jobs moving to Greenville where customer service is not the focus, making goals is.

    Return to your roots.
