I worked at United Hospital System full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Friendly place to work. Good job security. Co-workers are great to work with as long as you don't need to work with upper management. One of the better and larger employers in Kenosha.

Cons

Upper management is an good ole boys club. When it benefits UHS they view the company as being part of the Chicago and Milwaukee market, when not (such as for salary surveys) they limit it to Kenosha and its immediately adjacent communities.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees as an asset and trust them rather than treat them as a necessary evil that needs to be carefully controlled.

I have been working at United Hospital System part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

the unit I work on was very flexible with my personal schedule. For the most part all the staff are very friendly and willing to help

    Cons

    Upper management.
If you're a new nurse you get shafted and tend to get the harder patient assignment or always get first admission (this happens on certain floors).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to staff. You're burning out your nurses and techs by trying to make your budget cuts

I have been working at United Hospital System part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The ED staff is very helpful and the nurses there allow you to learn a lot. The SNI program is a great springboard into your nursing career.

    Cons

The starting nurse pay is not competitive with other Metro Milwaukee facilities. Horribly expensive benefits, it is actually better to opt out and buy from the Health Care Market Place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I don't have any.
