I have been working at United States Department of Energy full-time (more than a year)

Pros

If you can get a ladder position it is a great starting job. If you are motivated and have a good boss there are plenty of great projects to pick up that are challenging.

Cons

Things take forever to get done and you will deal with a very large number of incompetent people who lack any motivation.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on better training new hires.

    Interesting, engaging work with intelligent people.

    Cons

    Lots of bureaucracy. Even the smallest decisions need to go up the ladder and can sometimes take more time than the decision is worth.

    Delegate responsibilities and trust your workers to handle them.
