I have been working at United States Department of Energy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good, old-fashioned, benefits, with the expectation and the capability to change the world, legally. A good place to blend technology with policy.

    Cons

Way, way, too much bureaucracy, with contradictory rules and political tender spots. Department needs a clearly stated mission a la DOD

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't spend your entire budget every year, come hell or high water, and make choices that are sensible from a practical, rather than a political, perspective.
