Pros

Encouraging work environment fosters creativity, learning. Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) system provides a structured methodology for process control and continuous improvement. Employee Scholar Program reimburses for continued ed, even non-job related.

Cons

Lack of effective company-wide IT solutions to facilitate workflow development, single sign on, and performance measurement. Underwhelming HR system, does not actively seek the continued development of top talent and removal of under-performers.

Advice to Management

Invest in company-wide, leading edge IT solutions to facilitate shared needs such as workflow development, creation of business metrics dashboards, and single sign on / password management. Strengthen HR system to more effectively recruit, develop, and retain top talent while managing out under-performers.

    Pros

interesting work, some innovative products, nice people, great location adjacent to the Chula Vista marina, smart people in some of the lower levels of technical management

    Cons

where do i start? management expects 50-60 hours worth of work in a 40 hour week. Many hourly employees work off the clock just to meet cost/schedule constraints. By California state law, this is illegal, but it happens anyway. If you dont perform to the level expected, you will be walked out in short order. Also, jobs are being shipped to low cost countries and people are being laid off as management tries to cut costs and please investors.

    Advice to Management

try to practice what you preach and learn to have original ideas rather than copying ways that other large companies work.

    Pros

Technical, Customer Oriented, Professional, Great Reputation

    Cons

Low People Orientation, Not enough focus on employee development, Low pay, poor overall people culture.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on people! Focus on developing your employees. Pay genuine attention to your employees careers. Promote from within and focus less on always seeking 'saviors' from outside.
