Pros

Raised large amounts of money and supported a large number of wonderful community programs.

Cons

Too dependent on a single corporate donor. Very vulnerable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Diversify donor base. Strengthen board of directors.

    I worked at United Way full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Flexibility in schedule. Staff is amazing, and everyone loves working there. Lots of fun events, fundraisers, and they have speakers come in from all the local NPO's.

    Cons

    Pay isn't so great. Can be demanding sometimes, including weekends and late nights. Hard to obtain a job, unless hired as an intern.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Give more opportunities to other entry level employees to begin working for the organization.

    great learning environment, excellent networking, make a difference, learn valuable skills, gain experience providing social services, hone excel and research skills

    Cons

    low resources which makes getting a job there difficult.
