I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

I currently work at home as a telecommuter which I love. UHC provides many activities for our employees to get involved in our community such has - habitat for humanity, school supply drive for the kids, blood drives, many races for different cures.

Cons

I don't see any downside to working here.. I see a great company that has come a long way of course a long road ahead but I am sure it can be done.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are average. Good place to learn how health care works. IT appeared to have good processes in place for portfolio management, development and testing.

    Cons

I worked on the Corporate business side with many layers of management. In many cases no clear concensus of who is is the decision maker. Very high turnover when you count employees leaving UHG, contractors leaving and employees moving from department to department seeking sanity. Management appeared to have very good technical or operational skills, but their people skills as manageers was dismal at best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Save a ton of mony by cutting down the layers of management. Let people do what you hire them for, not to duplicate the efforts of others so their management looks like they are doing something.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits and salary are top notch. Some of the people are intelligent and great to work with. Most people want to do the right thing.

    Cons

Some groups have abandoned the idea of normalcy all together. This is a work first, live second type of company and work life balances isn't good. Downsizing has occurred quite a bit lately, despite record revenue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time on doing work than tracking time.
