Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Above average salary, average benefits (surprisingly average for the size of the company) and good opportunity for advancement.

Cons

I worked with several managers and all were fanatical that no one in any of the groups I worked in should contact's consult, or provide any information to the managers peers. One manager had a habit of raising his voice with his subordinates - unacceptable, but HR did not follow through with any of the complaints lodged from at least four individuals.

Advice to Management

Remove supervisory responsibility from those managers that do not have the tact or disposition to deal with employees in a respectable manner.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, but only when you are first hired. Nice amount of PTO and has a good number of other company perks. The option of telecommuting with some positions.

    Cons

Raises aren't the greatest, less than the cost of living per year. Management isn't effective and doesn't know how to lead. Many areas have unprofessional people working in it and it's rare that action is taken to correct this behavior. Company says they work to retain the great employees, but that is not the case.

    Advice to Management

Less talk and more action. Appreciate everyone within the company.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Promote from within, no bachelor's degree necessary for promotions up to director / ops. Very structured and politically correct environment. Cut and dry, "follow-the-rules-and-you'll-be-okay" assurance.

    Cons

Deals with vendors, so salaries do not match working directly for the corporations we serve. Health plans have a high deductible / high premiums.

    Advice to Management

Great management here as far as attitude. Some managers are promoted out of training classes, so make sure your leaders have experience with the client you serve before declaring yourself a leader.
