I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Competitive pay and benefits
    - Steady job (you have to really suck to get fired here)
    - Flexible work arrangements

    Cons

    - Constant reorganizations: New reorgs begin before old ones end
    - Workload follows you throughout your carreer, even if you are reorged and given a new 40 hours worth of work
    - Many, many co-workers are doing work that is over their heads
    - Everyone in the company except you is a Vice President, and they all think they are extremely important (seriously, the number of "vice presidents" in this company is just ridiculous)
    - Hundreds of forms, systems and tools that are constantly changing to get anything done

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is hard to judge OptumHealth as a whole because of the silo'd manner the company is run, and the constant reorganization. Before the current reorg, I was much happier with my job, and there are probably hundreds of little teams where you can have a good experience. However, the latest reorganization has affected my area very negatively and I am looking for better opportunities now.

The current middle and senior management team I report through seems to have raised ass-kissing and demanding unrealistic product (resulting in poorly thought out, shoddy work) to a real art-form. This is largely due to the fact that because corporate (United Health Group) IT does things properly, the business side constantly tries to work around them by putting forward development processes and applications in their own areas. These are constantly failing because of lack of discipline and knowledge.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The training staff is great. My supervisor was also very easy to work with.

    Cons

I have never worked for a company that i felt cared about their employees so little. I felt it was very disorganized and needs work on learning to staff appropriately
