Pros

UnitedHealth offers good benefits and opportunities to advance.

Cons

UnitedHealth is an enormous bureaucracy and it is easy to be just a cog in their machine.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

A mentoring program or career development program would really help you retain people who gain new skills and want to advance.

Also, developing a program to identify and retain great employees would really help you

Stressful atmosphere, not enough staff for the amount of work

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Caring coworkers, comfortable working conditions, salary is OK

    Cons

Company works hard to add business, but doesn't hire enough staff to manage it. Everyone is doing what should be the work of at least two people. Employees' health insurance is below average; the company reserves its worst benefits packages for its own employees!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are burning out your professional staff with the enormous caseloads, and good replacements are hard to find.

For a company making record profits their pay is far from competitive.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Work at home widely available. Very affordable dental and health insurance premiums..

    Cons

I always thought working for an insurance company would guarantee me one of those "Cadillac" Health Insurance policies However, the copay and Out of pocket is pretty high.
Leadership is very unreliable. Since they aren't willing to pay competitive salaries there is a lot of management musical chairs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your employees better health insurance with little to no deductibles and little to no copays. Look internally for promotional opportunities.
